In order to secure a Business Partner to design, build, manage and operate the Digital Region infrastructure, a full and open negotiated EU procurement process was commenced in September 2005.

The four local authorities of South Yorkshire are working together to procure the Business Partner, in conjunction with Service Providers, shortlisted bidders will submit final applications in May 2006 and the final Business Partner will be appointed by the Councils’ approval following recommendation by the Digital Region Board in Autumn 2006. Implementation will be scheduled to start at the beginning of 2007.

During 2006, Digital Region is inviting business, public sector organisations and community groups to input into the Digital Region project through a broad range of communication.
