Digital Region will enable citizens, business and public sector organisations within South Yorkshire to benefit from services delivered over a world-class broadband infrastructure. This transformational project will impact significantly on all aspects of South Yorkshire’s economy, social structure and business community.
As the first of its kind in the UK, Digital Region is already being recognised as a project of national and international significance.
Throughout the world, there is an increasing recognition of the role that access to broadband services plays in stimulating the economic and social prosperity of cities and regions. In the UK, the importance of next generation broadband has been recognised, as a government priority for some time.
"If the UK is to thrive in the future, to succeed in competitive markets and to enjoy better and better services, all of us need to be confident and comfortable, living and working in a digital world”.
