Digital Region for Local Authorities - Bring services closer!
Digital Region is a network for the South Yorkshire communities and can help with bringing services closer to them and improving efficiencies. The network can help to transform South Yorkshire and the delivery of public services.
- Accessible services for all – Reaching all members of society and providing relevant services to them is a new possibility with streamed audio-visual interactive services delivered via fast broadband
- Wider, better communications – The Superfast Broadband network can provide a common platform that can enable fast voice and data communications between local authority organisations, optimising bandwidth utilisation and leveraging the best-in-class applications
- Efficiencies and cost-savings – Achieving better customer service and better value for money is a common goal for local authorities. The network can enable home-working, network-based conferencing and other collaboration tools to make working more effective and efficient and reducing travel costs
(Note: these services will be made available by service providers not directly by Digital Region).
When can I get it?
Building of the Digital Region Network began at end of June 2009 and will take three years to build. The first services will be available from the end of 2009.
During November 2009 a service will be launched that will allow you to enter your postcode to find out when this new 'Superfast' network will be available in your area.
