Matthew Atkinson lives in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
He connected to the Digital Region network on 1st September 2011 and is delighted with all aspects of the new service. Mathew explains his experience connecting to the network.
“For over ten years I have lived with poor internet speeds – around 2Mb, going down to half a meg at peak times and frequent problems losing sync. I decided it was time to switch to a new ISP as I required a more stable and faster connection. I looked in to finding out more about connecting to the Digital Region network and I certainly have no regrets.
“I became aware of Digital Region after I spotted the new street cabinets appearing across the city and I noticed the sign on the barrier that explained the activity was to build a new fibre optic network in South Yorkshire. After further research on the Digital Region website I could see the rollout plans as well as different ISP’s offering connectivity to superfast broadband.
“I connected to the network with local South Yorkshire ISP Origin Broadband. They offer a variety of packages and had an option that suited my needs. They were keen to help sort everything out and got me connected as quickly as possible.
The process was straightforward
“I contacted BT to request a MAC code to enable me to migrate to Origin for my broadband service. I provided Origin with the MAC code and left them to sort out what was necessary. The service I received was brilliant and I was kept right up to date.
“A few days prior to going live Origin telephoned to arrange coming out to setup the wireless router that they provide – a really good personal and helpful touch. In the end I decided to set up the router myself and Origin promptly dropped it off before I went live. They told me to call if there was any problem and they would come back out to sort it all out.
“On the day of going live I received a phone call from Origin about an hour after I was physically connected. I was informed that my line was in sync and because I’d already set up everything, I was already using the service!
“I currently receive around 37Mb down and around 8Mb up and having tested the service at different times of day and night it appears that this speed is always constant.
“I often work from home and this requires a good bandwidth to enable web hosting, remote access and cloud backups. The speeds I now receive allow me to carry out several tasks at any time without having to worry that the connection can’t handle it or sessions will time out due to the demand.
“The network has been brilliant and I am delighted with the customer service and support that I have received from Origin Broadband.”
